Connecticut Home Care Questions and Answers

Many people are confused about home care. If you’re in Connecticut, here are some common home care questions and answers.

1. Why Would You Need Home Care?

This is one of the most common care home health FAQs. Home care is the ideal solution for anyone living alone who has medical issues, seniors who want to keep their independence, anyone who has special needs, or someone who is recovering from an operation.

2. What Are the Advantages of Home Care Over Assisted Living?

This is not only a personal choice but one that depends on the senior’s health.

If your loved one is healthy and wants to stay home but needs assistance, they will be more satisfied with home care. While assisted living offers great benefits such as meals and entertainment, many seniors would rather stay in the comfort of their homes.

3. How Do You Know You Found a Great Home Care Professional?

Many factors go into finding the best home care professional, but the best ones are flexible. For example, a home care professional won’t mind caring for pets, preparing meals, performing normal housekeeping duties, and will provide personal care.

4. Is There a Minimum Term of Care?

Every home care professional has different minimum terms of care. They may also manage schedules on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis. It’s best to inquire with a home care company and ask about their requirements or check their helpful home health resources.

5. What If My Caregiver Cancels?

The most reputable home care companies will know in advance if your regular caregiver can’t make it for a shift and will find a replacement. You should inquire with a home care company about how they handle absences and no-shows.

A message regarding COVID19 from CARE GIVING BY KATHY

We have been monitoring the Coronavirus carefully, and prior to the increase in cases, we began taking precautions, such as the use of 70% alcohol-based hand sanitizer, limiting physical contact (ie handshaking), sterilizing, etc. We take our role in the community seriously and try to make every effort to ensure our clients are taken care of but also that our Care Givers are safe as we enter our clients’ homes.

It is imperative that we begin to implement additional precautions for the safety of our community, staff and clients:

1.) If you are sick or have been exposed to the Coronavirus, please cancel your appointment by calling us at 860-785-8832

2.) Please avoid physical contact with our Care Givers during the time of the appointment. We will greet you with a warm smile, but not a handshake at this time.

3.) Please wash your hands with soap and water for 20 seconds prior to our arrival for our scheduled appointment. With your permission, our Care Givers will wash their hands as well. Please instruct them to do so, otherwise they will use the company-provided hand sanitizer. We have utilized masks when in clients’ homes, also all our Care Givers wear clean gloves as an additional precaution.
